Ariah
After the great war, I have barely spoken to Irik. It’s like he now splits his time between managing the duties of the people and being close to the King. Don’t get me wrong, I am happy for Irik and I know that it is all necessary. Except now I feel like he will never notice me. Knowing that I would see Irik every morning gave me something to be excited about when showing up for duties. It is like butterflies in my stomach an intoxicating connection.
Now I never know who I would see. Different people in the village work Irik’s scheduling duties. I see him maybe twice a week. It is now 6 a.m. and I am dressed and ready to go to duties. Meliza has just started her 3 hr beauty routine. I don’t know how much more of this I can take. There is a woman by the name of Corla that sometimes manage scheduling duties. She gives me a hard time about Meliza not showing up.
Anytime she sees MeLiza at village gatherings she says nothing to her about showing up to duties. Which is fine, but why does she continue to hound me as if I am Meliza’s keeper. Honestly, I can’t stand it. It feels like she wants to get off on making my day a little harder. While being to cowardice when it comes to Meliza. This morning, I am going to try to get Meliza to come to duties. As I get close to the restroom door I hear her crying. Knock, knock, knock, Meliza are you okay? “Ariah, please leave to work your duties you love to take credit for. You wouldn’t understand my type of problems.”
You can’t be serious Meliza. You do know the duties you mention are both our responsibilities. Right? It is so selfish that you won’t even bother to show up. The worst part is you blame me for doing my part. My going to duties every morning is the only reason you get away with this princess Meliza routine! “Please Ariah, you don’t understand just leave me be.” I felt sorry for her because I could hear the tears in her voice. So, I left her and went to duties.
